I first approached Mike about an around the world trip approximately 3 years ago. Mike looked at me, as I am sure many of you are thinking..."is she nuts"? He quickly decided I was quite serious. About a year later, the housing market was at an all time high and we realized we could sell our house for a nice profit. Which in turn would give us the resources to realize our dream. Unfortunately, the housing market has taken a dramatic dip, but that has not defeat our determination and/or desire to trudge forward with our plans. We may have to alter some of our original ideas, but that will not dampen our spirits.
So by now, I am sure you have many questions: Why?, Why?, and Why? As with many people who experience a health crisis either for yourself or of a loved one, you begin to think about things differently. Well, I guess that is what happened to me. Morgan our oldest son was diagnosed with Chiari 1 Malformation when he was 11 years old and had to undergo two brain surgeries 14 months apart. I guess due to everything that we went through with Morgan subconsciously I began to look at things differently. I recently heard someone say that most people don’t regret the things that they have done as much as they regret the things that they have not done. That really hit home for me.
Mike and I both want our children to have a great respect for the world around us. What better way than for all of us to immerse ourselves into the various cultures and let the boys see others parts of the world first-hand.
